Behind the Scenes: A Day in the Life of a Firepit Attendant
Morning Prep
Our Attendee’s day starts with reviewing the request of the customer to ensure we’ve captured any added extras that have been requested and then we load up our vehicle with the firepits, logs, fire safety equipment, signs, blankets, lanterns….and we can’t forget the apron. We may have forgotten the apron once or twice! Once we’re all packed it’s time to hit the road.
On-Site Setup: Bringing the Firepit to Life
Upon arrival at the venue, our attendants work closely with event coordinators, couples, or party hosts to find the perfect location for the firepit. Safety is our top priority, so we ensure:
The firepit is placed on a stable, non-flammable surface
There’s plenty of ventilation and distance from structures
Next comes the fire-building process—an art in itself!
During the Event: Keeping the Flames Alive
As guests arrive and start enjoying the fire, our job is far from over. We ensure everyone has fun around the fire. We try to create a warm and welcoming environment and our attendants play a big part in making that happen.
This might involve assisting children to toast the perfect marshmallow or just ensuring everyone is cosy with blankets.
One of the best parts of the job is to get to know the guests at an event and we’ve got some wonderful memories of conversations around the firepit over the years.
End of the Night: Packing Up with Care
As the event winds down, our work isn’t over just yet. Once the last marshmallow has been toasted we carefully extinguish the fire with the aim of leaving no trace behind. We then take all the firepit debris with us and leave the venue as we found it. Only then do we call it a night!
